NIC Louisiana has a learning position as a part-time (29 hours) front-end developer. This position provides an opportunity to work with experienced developers, learning how to create web applications and sites in partnership with various Government Departments of the State Louisiana.

We are the premier provider of Internet-based, electronic government services that help government entities use the Internet to reduce costs and provide a higher level of service to businesses and citizens. We build websites, web applications, and mobile applications that allow businesses and citizens to access information and complete business online with the state of Louisiana.

Based out of the main office in the center of Baton Rouge, the position currently offers remote working capability. The ideal candidate must have a willingness to learn new technologies, be driven to succeed and have a high degree of enthusiasm.

Knowledge of the following languages and tools are foundational to the role;

  • HTML 5
  • CSS 3
  • JavaScript
  • Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Wireframe/Mockups

Additionally, exposure to the following is extra awesome:

  • SASS or LESS
  • jQuery
  • Bootstrap 4+
  • Experience with source control
  • Umbraco Content Management System

If you’re able to work in a team environment, context switch between multiple work items, estimate your time spent on projects and be part of the project life cycle within the SCRUM framework using agile processes, you could be a great fit.
