Position is posted as a range; Pay, title and grade will be based on the qualifications of the individual selected

Under close supervision, inspect, test, program, service, pack and prepare for transport measurement equipment and other equipment as assigned. Equipment can include, but is not limited to: meters, instrument transformers, cluster racks, test switches, test equipment, etc.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:

1.) Receive, inspect, test, adjust, clean, repair, replace parts and subassemblies of single phase and polyphase meters and make incidental calculations.

2.) Test, adjust, repair and program all types of single phase, network and poly phase meters,

3.) Assist in the testing and maintenance of all electronic metering equipment as assigned

4.) Check company inventory regularly and assist in maintaining adequate stock of meters and other equipment. Participate in annual physical meter inventory.

5.) Assist in testing load research, time of use and electronic data recorders and more complex electronic metering equipment

6.) Mount and wire meters, metering equipment and instrument transformers.

7.) Assist in the testing of instrument transformers

8.) Develop computer skills and apply them to assigned work.

9.) Use and care for shop tools, test equipment, portable measuring instruments, and other equipment used in meter lab work.

10.) Calibrate, repair and test standards, instruments, controls and equipment as assigned

11.) Maintain testing records, as required

12.) Learn to calibrate and repair capacitor, voltage regulator, electronic recloser controls.

13.) Provide training and support to other employees as assigned

14.) Assist employees of equal or higher classification

15.) Perform other duties as assigned

RequirementsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Education requirements are listed below:
  • Must have a two year associate degree in electrical/electronic technology.

Work Experience requirement listed below:

None expected for this level of progression.

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver license.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Medium 1) Must have safe work habits and adhere to all safety rules and practices of the Company. 2) Acceptable written and verbal communications skills. 3) Work productively and function effectively in a team environment. 4) Must have the ability to acquire knowledge of single phase and polyphase metering, AEP metering practices, advanced metering schemes and concepts. 5) Must be willing to work overtime as required by job responsibilities. 6) Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression, or vacate the current job classification. 7) Must acquire / pass certification to safely operate fork trucks, stackers / hi-lift, pallet jacks, etc. in the day to day performance of the job. 8) Must be able to hear spoken words via telephone, cell phone or during individual or group meetings. 9) Must be physically capable of performing all the essential physical functions of the position and have the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to progress to higher levels of this job family.
