(such as the Sabine River Authority).Job Distinctions:Differs from Park Ranger 2 by the lack of journeyman level responsibility and authority.Differs from other law enforcement jobs by the confinement of work area to facilities operated by the Office of State Parks.Examples of WorkThe purpose of this position is to enforce all applicable laws on a state park and to educate the public on their role in the protection of natural resources, cultural, and historic resources.60% Law Enforcement Protects park visitors by enforcing federal, state, and local laws and park rules and regulations. Performs emergency duties to protect human life, government property, and natural features of the site. Investigates incidents and/or complaints such as, but not limited to, vehicular, vandalism, accidents, trespassing, and search/rescue that occur within the park boundaries. Testifies in court as required. Work with federal, state,& local law enforcement agencies & district attorneys in the arrest & prosecution of individuals. Provides security by patrolling and inspecting the site by vehicle, foot patrol, bicycle, and boat. Teaches visitors to respect the delicate, natural balance of our state parks. Regulates the number of site visitors. 20% Customer Service Assists overnight guests during their stay by performing customer service duties. Provides tourism information and local directions to the park visitors, and disseminates other information as requested. Performs maintenance, custodial, inspections, and/or fee collection tasks as needed. 10% Administrative Support Prepares and maintains various records and reports associated with park operations. Prepares and maintains incident reports, recordings, etc. associated with law enforcement duties. 5% Training Participates & successfully completes all required training by the Office of State Parks (OSP). The training includes POST Council Certification annually, annual certification in First-Aid/CPR,& other certifications as designated by the OSP.
