Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Public Staff Tax Accountant based in MONROE, Michigan. The professional will primarily be in charge of handling tax issues, preparing financial statements, and maintaining accurate accounting records. This role is crucial to our industry and the successful candidate will have a significant impact on our team's performance.Responsibilities: Manage the resolution of various tax issues related to the company Prepare all Federal, State, & Local Tax returns to ensure compliance with tax laws Research and provide advice on tax credits available to the company Maintain accurate records of fixed asset classification Assist in audits as required to ensure accurate reporting Prepare monthly accounting and financial statements for the corporate office Handle year-end 1099 analysis & preparation in a timely and accurate manner Assist in the creation of company forecasts and projections Contribute to budget controls & analysis to ensure fiscal responsibility Correspond with IRS, state, and local governments concerning tax and penalty issues Prepare quarterly/annual consolidated financial statements for review Review and submit monthly sales tax data to ensure compliance Assist in check signing for accounts payable as needed.Skills required: Tax Accounting, Year End Closings, Financial Statement Preparation. Requirements Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Tax Accounting Experience in Year End Closings is essential Proven ability in Financial Statement Preparation Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines Must adhere to high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism at all times Continual learning and professional development in Tax Accounting and related fields is expected Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
