You will play an integral role in creating control system solutions that meet the evolving needs of the Geismar, Louisiana Production units. You will be involved in every aspect of the control systems life cycle from hardware refresh to the software on process migrations of the control systems. Apply engineering knowledge, tools, and principals to develop improvements for multiple control system applications, including a variety of PLC platforms, Honeywell Safety Managers, and Honeywell’s Experion control system. Work with operations and key support functions to troubleshoot and deliver solutions to daily challenges.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESStrive to achieve world-class process control at all units in Geismar with conventional (regulatory) and advanced process control strategies. Work independently and in a team setting to reduce process variability and waste by-products with techniques that include advanced process control methods such as loop tuning, Advanced Process Controls (APC) support and monitoring.Lead and execute moderately complex engineering projects with minimal supervision.Perform project engineering and maintenance work from design to implementation in accordance with Honeywell engineering best practices and policies. Participate as a key contributor on projects and technical teams as well as provide technical guidance to others as required. Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision based on full awareness of viability, cost, and other benefits. Develop and implement innovative process controls solutions to chronic issues. Provide primary control system hardware/software support, instrumentation, and process engineering/optimization to a variety of field personnel including operations, instrument technicians, process engineering and various members of the operations management teams. Direct or perform control systems management duties including software management, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) security management, control network performance monitoring, controller performance monitoring, control system software upgrades, and maintaining backup of critical software and databases. Assist in training Operators and Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Mechanics on the various control-systems so they will improve their operating and troubleshooting effectiveness. Adhere to the Management of Change (Emoc) process to maintain standards and security of the control systems. Perform support in the areas of training, troubleshooting, environmental compliance, Root Cause analysis (RCA), and preventative/corrective maintenance, focusing on all areas of advanced process control systems. Support Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) teams as a subject matter expert in process control systems applications and safety standards. Demonstrate significant technical independence, excellent project management skills and leadership in development of control systems applications and safety standards. Provide on-call and off hours support as necessary to resolve problems during non-working conditions. MUST HAVEBachelor’s degree in Chemical/Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or will consider 5+ years of process control experience.WE VALUEExperience working with the chemical and/or oil and gas industriesStrongly desired experience with Honeywell’s Experion® control system.Experience with Honeywell TDC-3000 eHPM, eNIM, CL, AMCL, Logic Blocks, Regulatory Point build with the PED.Experience with the Honeywell Experion CEE, CM and SCM programing.Experience with Honeywell Safety Manger and SIF/SIL loops. Experience with Uniformance (PHD) applications helpful.Experience with Alarm Management or Dynamo applications helpful.Experience with Experion Batch Manager or other Batch systems.Ability to perform project engineering and maintenance work from design to implementation in accordance with Honeywell engineering best practices and policies. Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision based on full awareness of viability, cost, and other benefits. Ability to provide primary control system hardware/software support, instrumentation, and process engineering/optimization to a variety of field personnel including operations, instrument technicians, process engineering and various members of the operations management teams. Ability to direct or perform control systems management duties including software management, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) security management, control network performance monitoring, controller performance monitoring, control system software upgrades, and maintaining backup of critical software and databases. Plant Start-up and commissioning experience preferred. Six -Sigma certification or knowledge a plus. Be able to work with and communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and production engineers. Demonstrate ability to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend creative solutions with a focused-on results.Self-motivated and able to work independently or as a part of a team.
