Piper Companies is seeking a motivated

Associate Scientist II in

Rockville, MD to support research on a drug discovery program. This professional will support early discovery efforts using cell-based assays and molecular biology methods.

Associate Scientist Responsibilities:

Perform cutting-edge research in neurological disorders to support drug discovery programs
Cell culture and cell-based assays
Protein production and purification
Target characterization using a variety of methods such as Western Blotting, Immunocytochemistry, ELISA, Flow Cytometry, real-time PCR and RT-QuIC assays
Prepare and submit samples, analyze and report the data, maintain safe and efficient lab operations
Assist in design and execution of a variety of lab experiments per program needs

Associate Scientist Requirements:

Master's Degree and lab research experience in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
Experience in a variety of cellular, molecular biology and/or protein chemistry related methods.
Experience in routine lab techniques such as ELISA, WB, ICC, and qPCR.
Experience in cell biology techniques such as cell culture of a variety of cells, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence staining.
Good communication skills

Desired Additional Experience:

Neuroscience-related training or research experience
Pharma / Biotech experience

Compensation for the Associate Scientist:

• Salary up to $85,000 based on experience
