DescriptionLeidos is seeking an experienced Automation Engineering Lead to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The Automation Engineering Lead will manage and mentor a team of engineers focused on applying best practices to automate the provisioning, configuration, migration, and management of virtual infrastructure components, services, applications, and data within Azure and on-premises environments.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must possess an Active Secret clearance OR have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance prior to start date with Leidos. (US Citizen required)Primary Responsibilities
Provide thought leadership and mentoring to team of automation engineers, including frequent collaboration with the DES Chief Engineer and other team leads
Design, develop, configuration and deploy IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services within the Azure Cloud to fulfill end user requirements using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Ansible Automation Platform, and other automation tools
Continually identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies, and lowering sustainment costs
Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security
Initiate frequent interactions with the team of automation engineers to identify areas of improvement and facilitate their career growth, including participation in annual performance reviews
Scale cloud solutions, and migrate data center capabilities to the cloud, enabling the support of Fourth Estate Networks and Users supporting approximately 400k users.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience
Experience managing teams of engineers, including mentoring and fostering communication and collaboration across the team
Expertise designing, deploying, and operating solutions built on Azure, AWS or GCP
Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions
Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA
Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skills
Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence
Experience designing, developing, delivering and maintaining IT systems for DISA or other DoD organizations
