CDDIS Linux System Administrator (SA036)

ADNET Systems is looking for a multi-platform Linux System Administrator to join teams that manage computer systems supporting the Crustal Dynamics Data Information System (CDDIS) in the Earth Science Division at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. The mission systems include heterogeneous environments of specialized servers and data processing nodes consisting primarily of Linux distributions. The successful System Administrator candidate must demonstrate an ability to learn and grow while contributing to a system administrator team, and will put these skills to work supporting end users in mission operations environments that include changing scientific and security requirements over time.

Requirements:
  • Five years experience managing servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux or its derivatives as part of a team.
  • History of success troubleshooting errors and unexpected issues based on user requests.
  • Past experience working with and understanding the requirements and workflows of end users.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to install and configure open source and third party software.
  • US Citizenship required
Desired:
  • Experience scripting and automating routine processes.
  • Experience managing clusters of computers that use centralized job management.
  • SELinux experience.
  • Basic competence with Git and Puppet, or similar source and system management tools
  • Experience testing configuration and software changes in a development environment.
  • Ability to understand changing security requirements and their impact on workflows.
  • Experience with NetApp ONTAP storage systems.
  • Experience with the AWS Cloud
  • Experience with Red Hat Virtualization.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenStack.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting.
