Mid-level Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (remote/near Columbia, MD preferred)

We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to develop next-generation secure communication infrastructure for distributed systems and the smart-grid. The ideal applicant is a highly creative full-stack developer with a background in cloud infrastructure, CNCF technologies, and a passion for open-source. They will have an eagerness to learn and develop secure private and hybrid cloud infrastructure, virtual private networks, and microservices to securely connect and integrate a diverse set of OT and IT systems using emerging software and networking technologies and will have love for digital identity and non-IT-based cybersecurity. We strive for software quality, correctness, security, and reliability. Collaboration with a small and growing team will be required daily.

Required skills:
  • Microservices and distributed application architectures, ex. containers, Kubernetes, serverless technology
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Helm, etc.
  • Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.
  • Linux and Unix server administration and troubleshooting
  • C, C, rust, python, shell scripts
  • Cryptography and digital identity management architectures
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and best practices
  • Linux, CI/CD, Fluency in Git

Desired skills:
  • Strong scripting skills: PowerShell, Python, bash, etc.
  • Experience with virtualization technology (VMs, Containers, FaaS, etc.)
  • Experience with event-driven systems and pub-sub architectures
  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Zero-Trust Architecture
  • Knowledge of IP networking, VPN, DNS, load balancing, network virtualization, and firewalls
  • Embedded and industrial (OT) communications protocols
  • Blockchain, DLT and Web3 technologies
  • Application hardening
  • Operational Lifecycle of applications (DevSecOps)
