Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 to 1800 hrs (flexible).SkillsThe ideal candidate should have excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, and possess the following knowledge and experience:

The Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS) is seeking Fabrication/Manufacturing Engineers to help advance the development of novel materials and technologies for advanced computing research. LPS is a premier research organization, managed and operated by the U.S. Government, focused on developing new and innovative technologies to improve national security. Across its three locations, the University of Maryland-College Park, the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland, LPS conducts and supports world-class research from foundational quantum device physics to novel architectures for high-performance computing.

The ideal candidate will have a range of experience in the field of semiconductor device manufacturing, specifically application specific integrated circuits (ASICs). The candidate will be responsible for verifying and validating custom semiconductor processes required to manufacturing custom ASICs, and be familiar with a wide range of semiconductor device manufacturing materials in the areas of insulating dielectrics, and interconnect metals. Knowledge of superconducting materials is a plus. In addition, the candidate should be well-versed in semiconductor device manufacturing statistical process control, yield improvement, and failure analysis techniques. The candidate must have a good understanding of the entire semiconductor device manufacturing flow to include device design, manufacture/fabrication, test, and assembly.
