Full Time Assistant Childcare Teacher

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has an opening for a full-time Assistant Child Care Teacher for Kiddie Calvert. Kiddie Calvert is an on-site child care center providing care to infants eight weeks old to toddlers age four. Calvert School inspires each child to lead a life of purpose by providing a strong foundation in academic skills and character development. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland. The campus is easily accessible from Charles Street and I-83.

The Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in creating and implementing curriculum and activities that are age appropriate, and they will manage the daily affairs of a classroom. The teacher will also assist in managing student daily reports and will interact with parents and collaborate with team members. The hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. and this is a 10-month position.

Qualifications of the ideal candidates include the following:

Must be 20 years or older and have had some prior childcare experience.

Maryland Senior Staff qualification (possessing the 90-hour certification) or holding an associate’s degree in Early Child Care (ECC) preferred.

First Aid and CPR certified preferred (will provide training for certification, if needed).

Must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, and have strong communication skills.

Must have a high school diploma.

Calvert School offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, prescription, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans. The salary for this position is $18.00 per hour. Generous sick, personal, and holiday leave is also offered. A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
