Geologist - Environmental Remediation - 2+ years experience

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist/Environmental Scientist for employment in the Germantown, MD office. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal projects.Under the supervision of a Project Manager, the successful candidate will:Use scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems within a defined scope.Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental investigations in natural systems.Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, and sediment; prepare samples for shipping; maintain daily logs; and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork.After training, perform unsupervised field tasks.Direct staff in the execution of tasks.Coordinate with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, and supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation.Prepare technical science-based work plans, data summaries, and reports.Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations.
