IT010 Principal IT Security Engineer
We are looking for a full-time Principal Security Engineer (PSE) to support the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) under NASA's Space and Earth Science Data Analysis (SESDA) contract.The responsibilities of this positions are as follows: Act as the main information technology (IT) security interface to NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) leadership, management, fully privileged and limited privilege staff, and customers, both contractor and civil servant. The PSE shall be responsible for the overall IT Security architecture, strategic direction and operations in support of the NCCS and its evolving architecture, including the security aspects of the systems development life cycle (SDLC), all associated hardware and software planning, purchases and maintenance, project planning, metrics, reports, annual security audits and assessments. The PSE shall perform strategic forward-thinking and engage with other Federal partners, Agency colleagues, HPC peers, and Mission peers to meet Federal, Agency, Center, and organizational IT security requirements. The PSE shall participate in systems development and enhancements to the NCCS environment and provide security and risk assessments throughout the SDLC. The PSE shall ensure that the NCCS SDLC efforts enhance efficiencies and security control effectiveness across all service groups, with particular emphasis on continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD). The PSE shall support and perform continuous monitoring, on-going analysis of metrics and log data to ensure smooth transitions as Science Mission Directorate (SMD) requirements and IT security requirements evolve (e.g., Zero Trust). The PSE shall provide guidance and management of the Senior Security Engineer (SSE). The PSE will be an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) of the NCCS security plan and other System Security Plans (SSPs) determined by the government. The PSE will participate in planning, strategizing, and budgeting activities; work with Agency continuous monitoring teams, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Mission peers across the Agency to ensure appropriate consideration is being done of Agency HPC and HPC customer requirements.Required Qualifications:- At least 10 years' experience in managing IT security in a federal high-performance computing environment
- Expertise in High-End Computing (HEC) security planning and operations on-premise and in the cloud
- Demonstrated experience in NIST 800-53 versioning migrations
- Ability to work independently and with a group
- Strong verbal and written communication and critical thinking skills
