PURPOSE:

The Lead Software Engineer - DevSecOps role is responsible for maturing the CI/CD pipeline across the enterprise by working with a small team of thought leading developers to establish best practices, tools, frameworks, metrics and a matrixed community to drive adoption and continuous improvement in the value stream teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide DevSecOps subject matter expertise by participating in and consulting on multiple value streams while maintaining a high-quality level of service, supporting code reviews, architectural reviews, leading value stream mapping, issue resolution and management of team and scope. Able to interact with value stream teams and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels. Provide technical leadership, mentoring and governance to the engineering teams with specific focus on DevSecOps. Empowers teams of software engineers, business analysts, and scrum masters who may be matrixed into development teams to develop scalable software solutions that deliver business value.
  • Implement with value stream aligned teams tooling, practices, frameworks and ecosystem choices around the application stack. Provide necessary guidance to the value stream teams related to DevSecOps tools, practices, frameworks. Provide guidance to QE specialists with respect to DevSecOps best practices to enable a continuous delivery pipeline. Evaluate the Software Delivery maturity of any new software vendor partner as a part of due diligence. Work closely with third parties and stakeholders to reduce risks and dependencies in order to deliver features across multiple projects and teams efficiently.
  • Research, enable, and improve DevSecOps capabilities: Research, identify and propose new tools and technologies in the area of configuration management, container orchestration and cloud native development. Plan and conduct rapid POCs to test out DevSecOps tools and frameworks. Work with the release, change and configuration mgt teams to understand the requirements and automate the process for accelerated deployments. Work with the IT security and ops team to define environments and Infra-as-service. Ensure DevSecOps best practices are understood by the integrating partners.
  • Leads community of practices and drives continuous improvement in partnership with value stream tams. Conducts experiments with value stream teams to drive efficiencies, continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices. Ensures code quality, deployment standards and practices.
  • Works closely with Architects, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Value Stream Managers to provide insight into delivering business value and meeting objectives. Decomposes functional and technical requirements into project activities and tasks and provides conceptual design, prototype, and test cycles appropriate to a chosen technical solution. Identifies technical risks and develops mitigation strategies; introduces and recommends industry best practices and standards for the project. Works with stakeholders as well as technical and analytical counterparts to define constraints and develop requirements and concept of operations documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science OR inlieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 8 years Software design and development, software test and evaluation, software requirements management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong experience with Deployment/Continuous Integration/ Continuous Testing/ Continuous Delivery processes and tools and have expertise in CI/CD tools and frameworks.
  • Fundamental knowledge of software engineers’ best practices and agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies ( e.g. AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. cloud, SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, C, Python, etc.).
  • Knowledge of test-first practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD) for unit tests and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) for automated acceptance tests.
  • Experience with Spring related technologies such as Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Integration, and Spring Cloud.
  • Experience in developing REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Experience in designing and implementing container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Git workflow of release management and Project Tracking Systems (e.g., Bitbucket, Jira).
  • Experience working with Maven and Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory.
  • Experience utilizing platform and infrastructure-as-a-service technologies AWS, Azure cloud and their corresponding services.
  • Experience with deploying a global application and configuration management.
  • Ability to communicate technical requirements to all levels of expertise.
  • Proficient in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Experience in leading in a scaled agile environment.
  • Proficient with integrating complex and/or existing systems.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
