Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Loan Counselor in Baltimore, Maryland. This role falls in the financial services industry and will be based in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. The Loan Counselor will be responsible for a variety of tasks including mortgage loan origination, financial counseling, and underwriting. This role also involves advocacy work and participation in protests and rallies.Contract Type: Contract to HireLocation: On SiteDuration: 4 months, with strong potential for permanent hire if training is completedPay: $65,000 - $100,000 annually (Base Pay + Bonus + Commission)Job Summary: Assist low to moderate-income individuals in achieving affordable homeownership through NACA's mortgage program.Job Duties:
Provide housing and financial counseling
Help Members overcome mortgage qualification roadblocks
Improve Members' financial management skills
Guide Members towards homeownership goals and create realistic budgets
Maintain communication and support through the mortgage process
Compensation:
Potential earnings: $65,000 to $150,000 annually
Base Pay: $40,000/year or state-mandated minimum wage, including overtime
Schedule:
45 to 50+ hours weekly
Regular hours: 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays, with occasional late nights and two Saturdays monthly
Training Schedule:
First 7 weeks: 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Eastern Time)
Weeks 8-12: 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Local Time)
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree preferred

Strong math skills
Interest in learning the mortgage industry and obtaining a license
Passion for helping disadvantaged individuals achieve homeownership
No active real estate license
Licensed Mortgage professional with experience in mortgage closing, banking, application, documents, and financing
Familiarity with mortgage industry, mortgage lending, loan origination, loan underwriting, operations, processing, payments, and underwriting
Knowledge of residential mortgages and mortgage professionals
Proficiency in HUD and MLO regulations
Ability to make effective presentations, including financial and multimedia presentations
Proficiency in creating PowerPoint presentations and presentation decks
Experience with advocacy campaigns and customer advocacy
Familiarity with fair housing policies and certified housing counselor regulations
Knowledge of real estate, specifically residential real estate, accounting, and contracts
Experience in loan underwriting, including residential underwriting
Proficiency in handling direct phone calls and outbound sales
Experience in booking, confirming, coordinating, rescheduling, and managing upcoming appointments.
