Description:Seeking a mechanically focused engineer to work on the design, development and production of a new innovative system for a military application. Responsibilities include working through the advanced product development and product maturation process and working with a product that has transitioned from prototype to full production and manufacturing. This includes working to setup the production systems and manufacturing engineering necessary for full production and includes looks at continuous improvement opportunties when required. Develops system and subsystem requirements from higher-level mission requirements. Participates in hardware design and development activities, working with engineers, designers, machinists, and technicians to ensure the hardware design will meet requirements. Design includes component and subsystems design, design modification for new features or improvements and design manipulation. Develops requirements verification and validation matrices, ensuring the requirements may be verified through common industry practices. Reviews technical documentation to ensure the planned activities match the hardware verification and validation approach. Generates designs and drawings to meet requirements for the government customer. Supports project reviews (weekly, biweekly, monthly, and major milestones reviews), generating documentation, such as progress reports and slide decks, in support of the reviews. Coordinates and presents technical data, analyses, and status at reviews (internal and external). Manages technical and schedule balance while coordinating with the Program Manager to ensure the planned approach meets schedule constraints. Supports future planning activities such as hardware upgrades and business development activities that ensure the longevity of the systems within the DoD infrastructure. Writes monthly status reports for internal reporting to executive management and external reporting to customers. Develops and maintains the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager. Ideally would have experience within DoD, NASA, aerospace, automotive or other high reliability industries Hands on experience with manufacturing and production processes and environments. Experience with all aspects of the mechanical engineering product and development lifecycle. Management capability required and management experience a plus. People and/ or process. Experience with prototyping a pplus but not required. Solidworks 3D modeling and design experience is required.
