Job Title: Network Administrator Clearance Required: Secret Job Location: Aberdeen, MD Job Salary: $100K-$120K (The salary range provided is a general guideline. Job Description Install, configure, and maintain an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Project specific: responsible for the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and usage of the organization's local area network. Manages network performance and maintains network security. Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced. Installs all network software. Evaluates, develops and maintains telecommunications systems. Troubleshoots network problems. Establishes and implements network policies, procedures, and standards and ensures their conformance with information systems and organization objectives. Trains users on network operation. Frequently reports to Senior Network Engineer/Description: Under direct supervision, maintains integrity of the operating system environment. Performs system software upgrades including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination. Performs workstation and server administration setup. Coordinates disk space planning and management. Maintains growth statistics, space forecasts, tape libraries, and software and hardware inventories. Performs data backups and recoveries. Monitors and maintains continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements. Provides recommendations regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting. Maintains production change control schedule and participates in change control. Key Responsibilities: Provide Tier II support for iDirect Network and Space Capacity. Address Tier I calls and emails as required. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with remote terminals, iDirect Hubs, and iDirect network infrastructure. Escalate network anomalies to the appropriate personnel in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Collaboratively resolve escalations from the Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) Helpdesk. Identify and correct remote terminals causing CRC errors within the network. Conduct monthly checks with satellite providers to ensure hub carriers operate at contracted power levels. Coordinate all ASI activities with the RIA Helpdesk as needed. Identify and correct remote terminals causing cross-polarization within the network, in collaboration with Tier II Engineers and spacecraft operators. Address inquiries and concerns from the RIA Helpdesk. Monitor high-level alarms using iMonitor and respond to automated alerts as necessary. Generate and present reports for management. Recommended being familiar with the following software: iDirect Operation and Maintenance (iOM) Advanced iOM Qualifications: Minimum Education Level BA/BS 5+ Yrs.
