Piper Health & Sciences has an opening for a

Research Associate II with an in vivo research group in

Rockville, MD. This role works particularly with drug formulations and flow cytometry, and contributes to the development of vaccines for infectious diseases!

Responsibilities for the Research Associate II include:

• Understand and follow the appropriate SOPs for operation of standard laboratory equipment, for example freezers, centrifuges, scales, biocontainment hoods, pipettors, incubators, and pH meters.

• Performs laboratory experiments such as cell culturing, flow cytometry, pipetting, TCID50 and plaque assays, and preparing flu samples, while utilizing standard techniques and equipment.

• Processes, organizes, and summarizes data, reporting experiment results using spreadsheets and statistical software

• Perform related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies.

• Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks, including knowledge of aseptic techniques for handling infectious or potentially infectious organisms within a BSL-2 environment.

• Assist with report writing, SOP writing, and GLP compliance.

Qualifications for the Research Associate II include:

• 1+ years of related technical; experience working within a BSL-2 or GLP environment

• Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, or related field is required

• Experience with cell culturing or flu samples is highly desirable

Compensation for the Research Associate II includes:

• Salary: $28 - $38 hourly, commensurate with experience
