The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary Range$91,000.00 - $150,100.00Target Openings2What Is the Opportunity?Bond and Specialty Insurance BI&A currently has opportunities for experienced Data Engineers on a strategic cloud data initiative. The individuals hired into these roles will help develop solutions to integrate data from a new Rate, Quote, Issue (RQI) system into the Travelers Private Cloud. The data will then be transformed using ETL tools to feed the existing Financial Ledger and Data Warehouse flows.Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of AWS, Snowflake, ETL tools, Event Driven patterns and Agile methodologies.As a data engineer, you will collaborate with data architects, business partners, quality engineers to deliver quality solutions to help BSI achieve it’s strategic goals of integrating the new system and shifting processing to the cloud.The work arrangement for this position is based on location.What Will You Do?

Build and operationalize data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions.

Participate in the design of data solutions.

Analyze sources to determine value and recommend data to include in analytical processes.

Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality.

Partner and collaborate with team and business users to support delivery and educate end users on data products/analytic environment.

Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of moderate complexity and correct as appropriate.

Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent

Five years of related experience

Developing knowledge of tools, techniques, and manipulation including Cloud platforms, programming languages and software engineering practices.

AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, Aurora), Snowflake, Event Driven Patterns

Knowledge of ETL tools (Talend, AbInitio, Informatica)

Understanding of data models

Strong communication skills to work with partners (other developers, business, QA, architects, etc.)

Strong problem solving and ability to find creative solutions

What is a Must Have?

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training with data tools, techniques, and manipulation.

Two years of data engineering or equivalent experience.
