Description:The successful candidate will serve as a member of the Engineering team, sharing responsibility for leading and engaging in the architecture, evaluation and standardization of emerging network communication technologies, products and solutions in support of the Global Network. This role will collaborate with other engineering team members and the business unit to set the current state and future direction of the technological landscape. The candidate must be familiar with advanced networking concepts and technologies, including routing, switching, application centric, SD WAN and cloud-based technologies. The candidate will be responsible for delivering conceptual designs and technical architectures suited to a variety of product, customer and market needs. The individual will be acknowledged as a thought leader within business unit, credible and comfortable when engaging with executive leadership of both a technical and non-technical disposition. The candidate must be highly motivated, able to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently. Primary Responsibilities Serve as the primary technical lead on projects that contain moderate to highly complex environments. Lead and collaborate with other members of the Engineering team in the development of technical design solutions. Develop and implement project plans within budgetary, schedule and resource constraints. Capture, analyze, decompose and create requirements for systems, products and subsystems of moderate to high complexity. Use an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on customer needs and business requirements, to design, develop, document, test and maintain systems ranging from the straightforward to highly complex. Analyze and recommend contemporary and emerging technologies for deployment across the global network system architecture that may be applicable in addressing emerging product and market needs, taking into consideration the wider business context, risks, opportunities and constraints. Devise technical product roadmaps depicting the steps anticipated to migrate from the current state to the targeted future state. Deliver cost efficiencies by migrating the product portfolio over time towards a common target architecture where it makes sense to do so. Ensure that design and development work undertaken by others within the Engineering team is aligned to the approved technical architecture for a given project/program. Author, review and maintain documentation during all phases of the system design life cycle as appropriate and specified within documented process and procedure (Project Plans, Estimates, Requirements Documentation, Operational Scenarios, Design Documentation and Drawings, Sys Acceptance Test Plans, etc…). Author, champion and have strong opinions on engineering design standards and best practices. Act as a mentor to more junior engineers in all areas of the systems development life cycle. Required Experience Ten (10) or more years of systems engineering and solutions experience through all phases of the SDLC life cycle and with broad knowledge of core Network, Capacity and Performance Management technologies and applications. Five (5) or more years of experience with developing and managing technical requirements, including the use of requirements management tools. Configuration, implementation and installation of various Cisco networking devices and services. Significant experience with SD-WAN design, deployment and operations. - Preferably Cisco Viptela Experience with Cisco Nexus platforms, VMWare, and server virtualization Advanced knowledge in Data Center architecture Hands-on systems level understanding and an ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies quickly. Familiarity and Basic working knowledge in the following areas: Application of Security/Cybersecurity methodologies to network and systems design to provide secure services that support business requirements. Application of Network Management concepts to manage and maintain highly available and reliable network services to support business requirements. Knowledge of VoIP Telephony, and of SIP and H.323 protocols Experience with voice network design Familiarity with SDN & SDDC technologies and their applications Experience with Nexus 9K and VXLAN Familiarity or experience with network automation Experience with cloud-based technologies and tools. Linux/UNIX, shell scripting languages: - Shell - Perl - Python Familiarity with daily operations of a data center or large NOC environment. Desired Qualifications Active CCNP certification or equivalent advanced network certification highly preferred. Working knowledge of automation and configuration management leveraging tools such as Ansible Active cloud certification(s) desirable. Understanding of formal configuration management processes.
