As a Senior Software Engineer (SSIS), you will be a part of an Enterprise Business Intelligence and Analytics Team at GEICO, responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing data delivery for Analysis and Reporting solutions on-premises and in the Cloud. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating business specification into technical requirements, implementing ELT/ETL solutions, designing report solutions, as well as testing and quality assurance.

This position requires good analytical and technical skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate to non-technical associates and management. The strongest candidates will be intellectually curious, have a solutions oriented attitude and desire to learn new tools and techniques.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience with SQL query language and relational database concepts
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience building and editing SSIS packages or similar ETL tools.
  • 2+ years with GIT or other code repository tools
  • 2+ years of experience documenting business and system requirements
  • Strong Analytical Skills, working closely with business units to provide feedback & influence the future of product roadmap
  • Strong critical thinking, decision making, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with Data Build Tool (dbt) for data transformation
  • Familiarity with working with accessing data in Azure, Hive, Snowflake and/or DB2 Cloud environments
  • Familiarity with Power BI and SSRS for report development
  • Familiarity with Agile development
  • Familiarity with database performance optimization techniques
  • Passion for data discovery and a commitment to excellence
  • Basic knowledge of Python
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
