DescriptionThe Digital Modernization Sector has an opening for a Sr Mainframe Systems Engineer.Mainframe engineering tech lead managing 6-7 member team of senior mainframe engineer supporting large government agency.Daily operational tasks include:Oversee mainframe software release processes.
Manage the mainframe production support processes including workload/job scheduling and JCL updates
Monitor and help modernize mainframe testing and software integration processes.
Oversea team performing regular mainframe backup and DR processes.
Support various mainframe file transfer processes.
Manage the coordination of application and batch management daily tasks
Create internal and external daily reports to monitor the status of mainframe processing environments.
Manage LPAR performance and MIPS utilization via status reports which will include average and peak MIPS utilization
Lead and challenge the mainframe engineers to optimize and modernize manual mainframe batch tasks that can be automated
Qualifications: Computer Science Degree - BA or equivalent. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.12+ Years’ experience as a mainframe engineer and/or IT manager
You must have at least 1 legacy modernization experience
Experience within the governmental sector
You should be Responsible for planning and reporting the day-to-day status of reverse engineering and modernization activities
You should have Knowledge of Micro-focus analyzer DB2, JCL
You should Manage to scope of work and change of scope
You should Develop and deliver managerial-level presentations
Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
Ability to use strong industry knowledge to relate to customer needs and dissolve customer concerns and a high level of focus and attention to detail.
Strong work ethic with good time management with the ability to work with diverse teams and lead meetings
Strong organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
