Staff Accountant

Description Robert Half is searching for a Staff Accountant. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Sykesville, Maryland area, the company offering this challenging long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity provides a thriving environment and rewards effort.Responsibilities

Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Be a part of various department-wide initiatives Requirements - Proficient in ERP systems

Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

Competent with spreadsheets and databases

Strong analytical capabilities and discernment

Well-founded grasp of general ledger

Expertise in account reconciliation

Experience with account reconciliation

Bank Account Reconciliation experience

Microsoft Great Plains Accounting experience

Foundational knowledge in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

Proven knowledge of Fixed asset management

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Great attention to detail

Spreadsheet and database capabilities

2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
