Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant for a role located in Bethesda, Maryland. This position is in the non-profit industry and offers a short-term contract employment opportunity. The focus of the role will be on processing accounts payable and accounts receivable into QuickBooks, with an emphasis on handling credit card billing.Responsibilities: Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner Entering financial transactions into internal databases, specifically QuickBooks Pro Checking spreadsheets for accuracy and rectifying any errors found Managing credit card billing and reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly Assisting in the preparation of financial reports on a regular basis Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions Addressing and resolving queries related to accounts payable and accounts receivable Collaborating with the finance team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met Assisting in the implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency Performing additional accounting duties as required by the management team. Requirements Must possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Expertise in using QuickBooks Pro is a must Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Ability to work in a Non-Profit industry setting Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Must have a high level of integrity and dependability Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus Experience with financial software and systems Strong knowledge of tax codes and regulations Proven track record of working with financial audits and tax planning Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
