Job Title: Structural EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Structural Engineer to support a critical program for NOAA Fleet Recapitalization Efforts. This role involves assisting program managers with the day-to-day activities of ship acquisitions. The position is hybrid, with 2-3 days onsite.Responsibilities

Perform preliminary ship design studies

Conduct analyses on ship structures and perform trade-off studies

Estimate costs of design changes

Review and modify engineering drawings

Oversee ship checks and construction

Essential Skills

8 years of Naval Architecture experience

Proficiency in AutoCAD and ShipConstructor

Ability to assess vessel designs for regulatory compliance regarding stability and design

Strong technical writing and specification review skills

Experience in reviewing and modifying engineering drawings

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Naval Architecture or other engineering disciplines

Proficiency in FEMAP, MAESTRO, and ANSYS

Experience in cost estimation

Experience with production techniques for steel ships

Work EnvironmentThe role is hybrid with 2-3 days onsite and occasional travel. The work environment is dynamic, offering opportunities to engage in various tasks beyond traditional roles. The office is located in Silver Spring, close to a Metro stop, providing easy access.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
