Systems Administrator

Position: IT Systems AdministratorLocation: Capitol Heights, MDthe current schedule is 3 days on-site, but is expected to return to 5 days on-siteResponsibilities:• Use knowledge of IT Systems, Software and Hardware to advise organizational leadership on emerging technologies, how to implement them, and work alongside client leadership to ensure IT and business plans are fully integrated and foster innovation.• Troubleshoot and maintain Hardware such as Servers, Workstations, High Capacity Scanners, and other hardware Issues that arise in day to day process.• Analyze and troubleshoot, upgrade and maintain Windows and Linux based systems• Upgrade, maintain and install new COTS• Develop data collection strategies and conduct analyses to produce decision-enabling informationRequired Qualifications:• 5+ years of demonstrated experience with IT Systems• Knowledge and experience administering and supporting Red Hat (Linux) and Windows platforms.• Strong scripting capabilities such as Power Shell and Python.• SQL database installation, administration, and query capabilities, focusing on MySQL database environments• Knowledge of networking concepts, and network, switch, and firewall configurations.• Experience working in virtualized environments such as VMWare.• Experience in troubleshooting and replacing Servers, Workstations, and Scanner Components.• Capable of managing multiple tasks, understanding of client environment, identifying issues and risks, providing recommendations with clear vision on execution strategy.• Experience supporting Windows 2012 platforms including Group Policy and Active Directory Services• Windows user administration. (add, remove, edit users)• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (reports and e-mail).• the ability to obtain a security clearance. This position requires an extensive background and credit check.• Must be able and willing to work in an environment that requires Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Desired Qualifications:• Database query capabilities, focusing on SQL database environments• Basic Windows Powershell knowledge• Basic knowledge of NTFS• Good problem-solving skills• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related training
