Systems Security Analyst

12 Feb 2025

Vacancy expired!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establishes, maintains, and monitors all security policy and access rules defining specific access to network, files, and database management systems. The generation of such a system consolidates disparate applications security systems under one methodology.
  • Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing system security policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion. Maintains and documents system security measures within the enterprise.
  • Reviews industry best practices, external audit historical precedent, standards, and tradeoffs between performance, customer convenience and practical implementation to create solutions for applications to run in the infrastructure efficiently, minimize life cycle costs and not create a situation that might get tested for precedent in the next external audit.
  • Recommends security software and its application and/or upgrades to all storage device types and the access to them.
  • Reviews the requirement, looks at solutions that exist in-house and determines if existing solutions can be extended to the current requirement.
  • Establishes alternative security measures, if needed, to support disaster recovery efforts, which can follow a different engineering process because it may be completely infrastructure oriented and designed to handle emergency operations. This is a completely different set of requirements and standards that frequently arrive at security solutions that would not be used for daily production operations.
  • Prepares recommendations and implements changes to work methods and procedures to make them more effective and/or to strengthen security measures.
  • Analyzes the work process, making recommendations to improve the work-flow efficiency and/or operation productivity.
  • Maintains contact with vendors regarding security system updates (e.g., periodic, emergency basis, fixes for discovered problems) and technical support of security products.
  • For periodic and emergency basis updates, the analyst evaluates the need for the fix and immediacy of implementation. If the fix is required, the analyst needs to run the engineering process of upgrading the product, testing, and moving the change into production. In the case where a custom fix is required for a discovered problem, the analyst runs the engineering process to get the vendor to develop the update then install, test, and accept the update.
  • Provides management with risk assessments and information security training to uphold enterprise security measures. Informs management of critical issues that may affect clients and completes status and statistical reports in assigned area as required.

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • College degree in an Information Technology field with 2 years Information Security experience in application security.
  • 2 years’ prior experience in direct customer support.
  • 2 years’ experience in security or identity management in Windows and another platform like Unix or the mainframe.
  • Working familiarity with database concepts such as MS SQL Server.
  • Ability to understand and clearly relate to other members of the organization technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principles of operations, and general methods of systems software operations and security.
  • Ability to communicate effectively dealing with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to interface with multiple areas and staff levels.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to handle many tasks and procedures concurrently.
  • Will also need their own device to connect via Citrix
