Americas Tax Manager is a key member of our Group Tax team.  Reporting to the Group Tax Director, based in the UK, the role involves focusing on managing compliance and support of the business in the US and Canada and provision of commercial tax advice for the Americas.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Management of the US corporate tax compliance process: Review and manage the outsourced corporate income tax compliance activities to ensure accurate and timely filed tax returnsEnsure compliance with tax legislation in all relevant jurisdictions with support from external tax advisorsGathering of appropriate tax package information and tracking the status of compliance milestonesManage tax correspondence, audits, enquiries with tax authoritiesPreparation of quarterly estimates, filing and paymentsManage corporate tax affairs of the Smiths Detection Canadian business, including liaising with advisors, managing tax issues associated with repatriation of funds, and providing advice to local Finance team as requiredManage corporate tax accounting and reporting: Provision calculation including work paper/schedule preparation, calculation of temporary and permanent differences for US.  Oversight of the same for Canada.Contribute to agreeing the overall tax charge, assets, and liabilities for reporting to Group for Interim and Year-end reporting with external auditorsEnsure appropriate tax accounting in individual entity accounts including reconciliationsTax advice and planningBuilds internal relationships to partner with the business and demonstrate knowledge of the businessMonitoring legislative developments and the impact to the businessProviding tax advice and input as appropriate in connection with commercial activitiesProactively identify, manage, monitor, and mitigate regional tax risksEnsure compliance with Group tax strategy and policiesUndertaking ad-hoc tax projects as requiredYou should note that your title and job description are not exhaustive, and the Company may require you from time to time to undertake other reasonable tasks within your capacity
