The desired candidate should have experience working on significant signal projects in transit. Projects may include light rail, heavy rail, commuter, or other rail projects. Knowledge of key transit and rail systems engineering and design requirements for automatic train control (ATC), communications and associated systems equipment is required.This Train Control Systems Consultant has considerable latitude for independent judgment within specified guidelines and manages and directs the systems engineering construction oversight, document review for ATC system design, assists with technical support to clients, vendors, and other consultants. This individual must gain a thorough understanding of the Scope of Work, the Owner’s requirements of the contract, the design submittal process, the project’s organizational structure, and the integrated design-build project schedule including an understanding of principles for integration of Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) overlaying an existing legacy audio track circuit train control system. The Train Control Systems Consultant must demonstrate experience working with clients, vendors, consultants, contractors, and experience managing work with diverse and remote design teams for timely contract deliverables.When you join us as a key member of the team, you’ll ensure a cooperative and collaborative transfer of all design information; the organization and storage of all relevant design documents and as-built information; and facilitate the timely completion of the design work through system commissioning, so that the client contract deliverables proceed in a timely manner, without unduly holding up the contractors’ progress.When you join us, you’ll be responsible for the following: Understanding of CBTC and legacy ATC systems design aspects of complex transit and rail projects Providing overall technical support to systems team and recognizing issues that arise Coordinate work activities and decisions with the Project Manager Collaborate with other Team leaders to ensure the critical design components and related submittal documents are properly prioritized and delivered Ensure that the Safety & Quality issues are coordinated with audit activities of the Quality Assurance Manager and promptly address any issues that are identified Collaborate with Team members in risk management and ensure that risk mitigation measures are in place and are being followed Work with the Project Manager and Project Sponsor to identify risks and develop risk mitigation measures Participate in monitoring measurable metrics against the budget for early detection of budget overruns Be able to work with other Discipline leads and the Project Manager to mitigate the impact of installation delays if they arise Actively participate with innovative thoughts and ideas with the systems staff Participate in “Value Engineering” and group collaboration amongst systems engineers Ensure that the systems design documents for testing, startup and commissioning are produced timely and in adequate detail Manage Changes to the contract scope as requested in coordination with the Project Manager Be able to identify contract scope, change, under the auspices of a contractAt Jacobs, we’re partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates.
