OVERVIEWWe are currently seeking a highly qualified UI/UX Designer to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' Quality and Safety Education Portal (QSEP) development team. The QSEP provides on-demand, web-based training; provides a platform for live and prerecorded broadcasts of trainings; performs assessments for several classroom-based, instructor-led courses; hosts additional custom materials and training; and gives health care providers access to information about surveyors' mission.

DUTIES
  • Continue design and front-end development on new and existing templates
  • Create interactive prototypes using Figma
  • Apply Bootstrap 3 styles to new and existing templates
  • Optimize existing markup for speed and scalability
  • Develop and re-design website pages at the direction of Management
  • Translate user stories and requirements into functional applications
  • Utilize established programming languages, development tools, and conventions including VB.NET, JavaScript, HTML, Visual Studio, and SQL Server
  • Ensure all code is unit tested and compliant with functional and other requirements, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to remediate findings
  • Help maintain code quality and organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field preferred in Computer Science or other related discipline
  • Expert knowledge and experience writing HTML5 and CSS3
  • Familiar with the human-centered design process
  • Intermediate knowledge, experience, and ability with jQuery, Bootstrap, and AJAX
  • Able to work in a team environment and collaborate well with others
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to articulate complex ideas to non-technical staff
  • A self-starter with strong self-management skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Able to consistently meet project deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (but not required)
  • Basic understanding of ASP.NET Web Forms
  • Basic understanding of GIT source code repositories
