OVERVIEWHendall Inc. is seeking a highly qualified writer / editor to research, write, and edit health content for professional and lay audiences. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing accurate, engaging content for dissemination through a variety of channels, including publications, brochures, fact sheets, websites, mobile applications, and social media platforms.

DUTIES
  • Research and author content for websites, publications, and other formats to educate professional and lay audiences about topics related to mental health and substance use disorders
  • Contribute to the full range of product development activities, including conceptualizing product formats, developing concept clearance documentation, developing substantive outlines, and translating highly scientific information into clear and understandable content
  • Perform extensive research by interviewing subject matter experts, reviewing existing documentation, and conducting literature reviews
  • Prepare products for various stages of internal and external review, including field review and federal agency review
  • Review, revise, and edit content for readability, plain language, and accuracy
  • Copyedit content

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • 7 years of experience writing scientific and health content
  • Knowledge of and experience applying Federal plain language guidelines and National CLAS Standards
  • Experience authoring content related to the treatment and prevention of addiction and mental illness or for government agencies such as SAMHSA or NIH
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to adopt and apply client-specific style guides in the course of authoring content
