We are seeking a Scientific Software Developer with 3-10 years experience to join the staff of the XRISM Science Data Center within the NASA/GSFC's Astrophysics Science Division (ASD), which supports a broad program of research in astronomy, astrophysics, and fundamental physics. Specific duties of this position include: software development and support for calibrating and analyzing data from space instruments, writing/editing technical documentation and user guides, as well as assisting with user support. Also included are development and testing of software for pipeline processing, data ingest, and archiving.

Required:
  • BS or higher in Astrophysics, Astronomy, or Physics
  • Python and the scientific Python stack (NumPy, SciPy, etc.)
  • C/C
  • Perl
  • Shell scripting in UNIX/Linux/Mac OSX context
  • Experience in developing portable/multi-platform software
  • Familiarity with unit and functional testing
  • Technical Writing experience
  • ship or required.

  • Experience with GUI development
  • Scientific software packages (e.g. FTOOLS)
  • FITS data format
  • Experience analyzing astronomical data
