Position OverviewCompany seeks an engineering leader with confidence and experience in working domestically and internationally, to head our Advanced Manufacturing Technology team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding mentorship and guidance
  • Lead the planning, design, launch, and integration of advanced process technologies into our pilot manufacturing facility that will demonstrate high-rate equipment and overall manufacturing processes to produce battery cells and full-product containerized DC-systems for initial commercial deployments and serve as the blueprint for high volume manufacturing plant plans
  • Lead the team's participation in design reviews, design for assembly and design for manufacturability reviews
  • Lead the development of manufacturing robotics/ automation processes to support battery assembly. Facilitate key manufacturing parameters including equipment capacity, equipment strategy, production strategy, cycle time, equipment OEE, capability and costs
  • Support specification development for in-process and end-of-line test equipment required for procurement
  • Work collaboratively with cell and product engineering and manufacturing regarding high volume production through automation and advance processes, and take a key role in the equipment qualifications, part PPAP and launch events at the plant
  • Lead and assign resources to support new product development and manufacturing activities from concept through ramp-up production
  • Develop methodologies for the determination of cost calculations and how they can be improved or enhanced with advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Help drive standardization of equipment through specification for areas such as: controls, PLCs, software, operating procedures and replacement parts
  • Build, hire, manage, and motivate a high-caliber, team-oriented functional and cross functional development team and organization with systems approach

Requirements:
  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing or an engineering role, with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Entrepreneurial drive with demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment
  • 5+ years of guiding and leading strong engineering teams and in supervising production teams.
  • Excellence in working across multiple international locations
  • Possess broad and deep experience within product process development, industrialization and production of high-volume products. Have experience within the OEM and/or Tier I supplier community
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with high volume and power engineering
  • Knowledge of, and experience in specifying, sourcing, qualifying and launching complex assembly and in-process test equipment is a must
  • Knowledge of quality methods and requirements including APQP or phase gate release processes, ISO9001, TS16949, and global OEM development systems
  • Expertise in developing teams within growing or rapidly evolving organizations, highly desirable
  • International travel required
