What You Will AchievePfizer's Global Medical Epidemiology department is a team of experienced scientists that delivers essential, innovative, and scientifically rigorous epidemiologic analyses of disease occurrence, natural history, risk contextualization, and trial modernization for strategic decision-making.The Senior Manager Epidemiology Scientist position provides an opportunity for a collaborative and innovative epidemiologist to play an essential role in advancing Pfizer's understanding of disease epidemiology/ pharmacoepidemiology to support decision-making across portfolios.The Senior Manager Epidemiology Scientist will partner with internal and external stakeholders on the design and conduct of epidemiologic research to inform clinical development programs and to support regulatory submissions to the FDA, EMA and other agencies globally. The role will involve internal and external collaborations in conceptualizing and proposing epidemiologic studies, and in writing and reviewing protocols, reports, and presentations. Studies will be communicated in writing and in presentations to internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, medical professionals, and others.Specifically, the incumbent will primarily support early clinical development activities across therapeutic areas, including natural history studies, background epidemiology studies, regulatory requests, feasibility analyses, literature reviews, and external cohort studies.This position will report directly to the Epidemiology Early Clinical Development Strategy Lead in Global Medical Epidemiology. Develop, manage and execute epidemiology studies, including natural progression of disease, comorbidity, treatment pattern, and user characterization studies
Develop, manage and execute epidemiology contributions including literature reviews, real world data analyses, and protocol-driven studies for early clinical development colleagues and inline product teams
Contribute to epidemiological sections of regulatory and other scientific documents such as clinical development plans, CT-24 protocols and study reports, statistical analysis plans, PIPs, PSPs, research summaries, abstracts, and publications
Develop indicated population cohorts for external control arms and regulatory requests
Lead and contribute to other epidemiology studies and activities (e.g., special subpopulations, new indications, etc.) as needed
Provide critical assessment of epidemiological methods, data and literatur
Provide expertise and oversight in developing real world data strategies to uncover, understand, and further contextualize information on the effectiveness and safety of Pfizer products, and to support health equity research
Provide quantitative support for the development of project proposals, study protocols, statistical analysis plans, study reports, other internal documents and external publications
Provide expertise for decision-making around the appropriate use of internal and external RWD
Manage epidemiological work with external vendors for real world data analyses, protocol-driven studies, literature reviews and regulatory submissions deliverables
Collaborate and partner closely with cross-functional colleagues across Pfizer to understand asset team and trial needs, develop innovate relevant epidemiologic contributions, and design and analyze large and complex data set
Participate in division- and Pfizer-wide events to showcase epidemiology contributions such as Medical Grand Rounds and the Analytic Summit
Present and publish results of epidemiological studies at scientific conferences and peer-reviewed journals
Contribute to and lead Global Medical Epidemiology department initiatives as needed
QualificationsMust-Have
Doctoral degree (PhD/DrPH) in epidemiology or a related discipline and at least 2 years of experience in the field of epidemiology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Expertise in epidemiologic methods
Sound understanding of early clinical development
Experience writing epidemiological sections of scientific documents such as study protocols, statistical analysis plans, clinical study reports, abstracts, publications, and regulatory documents
Experience conducting epidemiologic literature reviews, interfacing with asset teams, and programming in SAS, R, or IHD
Sound understanding of electronic health records systems and data quality
Creative problem-solving skills in designing alternative approaches, new solutions, or innovations
Experienced in leading meetings / projects
Demonstrated ability to pivot between working independently and to collaborate on a team
Track record of competing long-term and complex research projects and producing expected deliverables on time
A dedicated research professional with intellectual curiosity and a passion for their work

Work Location Assignment:HybridThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $109,400.00 to $182,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
