Location: Boston, MA Description: Geospatial Business Analyst

Duties:

The selected applicant will serve as part of a team of geographic information system (GIS) specialists who create or maintain spatial databases; organize, manage and clean datasets; and develop custom web applications and automated data processes. The applicant will be responsible for managing and executing geospatial projects for internal and external business users, in collaboration with the development team.

Duties may include gathering complete business requirements and gaining business approval before proceeding with solutions, developing geospatial policies, maintaining a list of backlog requests, assisting in the prioritization of the backlog and planning of work streams.

The candidate will also administer, manage and troubleshoot geospatial systems and software that support the activities of the GIS team

Preferred Qualifications:

An understanding of transportation planning concepts and spatial/statistical methods for data analysis is highly desired, including linear referencing systems.

Candidate should be a fast learner who can take initiative and feels comfortable working independently within a large and multifaceted organization.

Candidates should be comfortable working with ESRI products such as ArcGIS Portal, Server, GeoEvent and desktop software. They should also have a working knowledge of third-party integrations, for example FME, web APIs, VertiGIS Studio, Tableau etc. to propose viable technical solutions which meet business requirements.

Candidates should have strong written and oral communications skills, combined with the ability to work effectively with others in establishing cooperative relationships, and in a variety of settings (individuals, groups, inter- and intra-agency, etc.). Candidate will be required to discuss highly technical ideas and concepts with non-technical business users in a clear and succinct manner

-Writing samples should be provided.

Candidates should be able to write design and technical documentation, as well as user guides, for highly customized geospatial processes using industry best-practices. They will also be required to maintain and organize these documents for future reference.

A familiarity with agile project management methodologies and the principles and practices of transportation planning is preferred.

Preferred Software Requirements

• Task management software such as Wrike, JIRA or Asana

• ESRI ArcGIS Pro

• ESRI ArcGIS Portal and Server

• Experience managing ESRI Services is a cloud environment

• Knowledge of scripting concepts such as Python, JavaScript, React and C#

• Knowledge of SQL and OOP concepts

• Software programs such as FME, Voyager, VertiGIS Studio, Tableau, or Salesforce

• SPSS, Stata, R, or equivalent statistical software program
