Solidus is searching for a Hardware Engineer to design and maintain satellite communications payload emulation systems used within the group and delivered to industry. The systems consist of embedded single board computers which control a variety of custom-built digital hardware boards and RF equipment. The Engineer will be required to develop a system level understanding of the unit so that the operation of the underlying digital hardware implementations can be assessed. In many cases, issues with the existing hardware will occur which require troubleshooting and anomaly resolution. The Hardware Engineer will work in a hands-on lab environment to determine the root cause of the issue, suggest fixes, oversee the resolution process, and test/verify the solution. In some cases, the engineer will be required to generate schedule estimates and documentation of the issues and solutions.

The work associated with this position requires involved hand-on work on a laboratory requirement. The candidate should be familiar with digital hardware laboratory tools, equipment and procedures. Good communication skills are required since the Engineer will be working closely with other engineers and technicians to accomplish the required tasking.

Required skills: - ship and the ability to obtain a Secret DoD Clearance. Active Secret preferred - BS and 5 years of experience with the below - Circuit Design - New Circuit Characterization and Qualification - New Circuit Debug - PCB Design and Layout - Hardware Design - Hardware Design Tools such as SolidWorks, PCB Layout Tools such as Altium Designer - FPGA Programming (3 years) - VHDL/Verilog (3 years) - Testing and Evaluation
