Job SummaryBoston Children’s Hospital UNIX / Linux team is seeking an individual to provide technical systems management as a Linux Administrator III. This team is responsible for managing the following operating systems: Red Hat Linux and AIX. This team manages VMWare servers to host our RedHat virtual servers as well as other Linux OSes and appliances, manages the Cache / Iris databases for two Epic environments as well as builds and support the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (Web and application services). Also, responsible for co-managing the Storage Area Network and Network Attach Storage with the Windows team. This team works with the different Application teams, DBAs, Network Support, Operations and End User groups along with vendors to design, evaluate and implement new computer systems and associated applications. They are responsible for providing support and consulting to other Information Services Department (ISD) groups and their user communities.

The Linux Administrator III shall be responsible for:
  • Provisioning, installation / configuration, operation, maintenance, monitoring and technical support of the Boston Children’s Hospital production, development and disaster recovery computer UNIX and Linux systems and related infrastructure.
  • Interacting with Application, Database Administration, Network Support, Operations and End User groups along with vendors to design and evaluate and implement new computer systems and associated applications.
  • Providing support and consulting to other IT groups and the user communities.

In order to qualify you must have:
  • Knowledge of theories and concepts typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Hands on experience with Red Hat Linux, VMware and AWS.
  • A working knowledge of programming/scripting languages is preferred
  • Experience with AIX, Storage Area Networks and Ansible would be a plus
