We are currently seeking a Mainframe z/OS System Administrator for our client in the IT Services/Consulting domain. Duration: 6-12+ Months Contract Location: Remote Role: Mainframe z/OS System Administrator Primary Skills: Mainframe Role Description: The Mainframe z/OS System Administrator must have at least 6+ years of experience. Future Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for the overall management and administration of CICS for z/OS and MQ for z/OS subsystems across multiple Sysplexes and CECS. - Provide technical direction and education as needed to an external outsourced partner and internal team members, ensuring expected outcomes are achieved per relevant contracts, SLAs & KPIs. - Prototype new features, functions and strategies of new application subsystem technology. - Capable of creating the roadmap, processes, best practices, standards and strategies for continuous improvement of monitoring, performance, resiliency, availability, and scalability of CICS, DB2, and MQ on system aligned to business objectives. - Partner with internal lines of business to incorporate business plans into capacity plans. - Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business need. - Create and manage life cycle of technical specifications using engineering best practices. - Provide forward thinking technical expertise in current and emerging technologies, trends and practices. - Ensure compliance to licensing, hardware/software life-cycle management, and portfolio roadmaps. - Analyze incident, problem and change records to determine any trends or apparent problems that have occurred and take any opportunities to improve service quality. - Responsible for all audit initiatives related to the mainframe platform. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience. - Experience in Integration of mainframe hardware and software plus at least level 2 support are extremely important. - Experience with IBM Mainframe hardware, including Z14, and Z15 Business class machines. DS8884, DS8910, TS7760, TS7770. - Experience with wide variety of mainframe system software products and concepts such as Z/OS (Assembler coding & programming languages, IODF, HMC, WLM, RACF, TSO JES, SDSF, SYSPLEX, SMP/E, DB2, CICS, IBM MQ, HSM, RMF, SMF, SCRT). - Storage planning, Automation, Omegamon, EOS/WSF, OPC, Endevor, BMC Tools, Tomcat, AION, manage software licenses, MSU, MIPS, and VU based. - Experience leading systems analysis, design, and architecture efforts. - Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root cause of issues and provide solutions.
