Solidus is searching for a Mechanical Engineer.

The successful candidate will join a team that provides innovative design solutions for advanced technology prototypes. Example projects include laser communication, high energy lasers, optical sensors, biological agent detectors, and large radar antennas, for systems deployed on ground, maritime, air? and space?borne platforms. The group has expertise in precision engineering, opto?mechanics, mechanisms, electronics packaging, large structures, highly efficient lightweight structures, composite materials and additive manufacturing. The group is the Engineering Division's center for 3D CAD design and data management, and is involved in every step of program execution from conceptual design to system integration and test.

Responsibilities: - Design, integration, and testing of complex hardware from conceptual design through fabrication and field performance evaluation. - Must be knowledgeable in a broad range of challenging problems involving structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, optics and electronics. - Working in close-knit teams with design, analyses and test personnel. -The position may require travel to meetings and field sites.

Required Skills: - US Citizenship and an active secret clearance - BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace + 10 years experience, MS + 5 - Must be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or as part of a group - Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and must be able to present status/results to internal and external audiences - -Experience in mechanical design, assembly and environmental testing of high reliability electronic, electro-optic, mechanisms, or opto-mechanical systems for DoD or aerospace applications. -Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software.

Experience in the following areas: - Mechanism Design - Experience with structural testing and model correlation - Mechanical - Aircraft/Missile/Satellite System - Mechanical - Electronic Packaging - 5 yearsMechanical Engineer - Mechanical - General - Mechanical - Mechanisms - Mechanical - Opto - Mechanical - Rapid - Solidworks 3D Computer-Aided Design(CAD) - Mechanical Systems

Nice to Have: - Demonstrated experience with the development of opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical systems utilized on spacecraft and/or aircraft strongly preferred. - Experience in DoD, military, and/or aerospace applications highly preferred. - Opto Mechanical experience would be HIGHLY preferred and would stand out a candidate from others. - For this role, an interim is acceptable for start on the project. A secret from the first day is highly preferred - This position is required onsite at least 4 days a week so the candidate must either be local to Lexington or able to relocate at the start of the position.
