Systems Requirements Planning
  • Develop secure systems by evaluating network and security technologies, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, applications, and related security and network devices; support the design of public key infrastructures (PKIs), including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhere to industry standards. Possess a knowledge of various architectures to include cloud, Hybrid and on premises.

Systems Security Architecture
  • When assigned, act as a security representative on project management teams to provide guidance and support during the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that security controls are designed, implemented, and documented.
  • Vulnerability Management - Advise on the remediation, criticality and patching of vulnerabilities.
  • Create and document solutions using a risk-based approach, that balances the businesses requirements with compliance and cyber security requirements.
  • Provide security recommendations and guidance for the secure deployment of tools, applications, and solutions.
  • Support the development and deployment of secure architectures, consisting of but not limited to on premise, hybrid, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Serve as a member of the Incident Response team.
  • Design, build, implement, and support enterprise-class security systems
  • Perform or supervise vulnerability testing, risk analyses and security assessments
  • Create solutions that balance business requirements with information and cybersecurity requirements
  • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements
  • Maintain current knowledge of security considerations of cloud computing, including data breaches, hacking, account hijacking, malicious insiders, third parties, authentication, APTs, data loss and DoS attacks
  • Function as an enterprise security subject matter expert who can explain complex topics to those without a technical background

  • Demonstrate the ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, technology projects and information security programs
  • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats
  • Define, implement, and maintain corporate security policies and procedures
  • Stay abreast of cyber security threat landscape, industry best practices, compliance requirements and regulatory changes that may affect information technology and/or the transportation sector at the state and national level.
  • Enhance department and organization understanding of cyber security awareness.
  • Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Perform related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Be willing and able to drive a company or personal vehicle to assist at emergencies and/or events as needed.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Have a general understanding of current Laws, Articles and Regulations regarding Massachusetts resident’s data.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical or engineering field or supplemental professional experience. Relevant experience can be substituted for degree.
  • Knowledge of all layers of the OSI model
  • Knowledge of or experience with security architecture framework.
  • Knowledge of threat landscape, security threat and vulnerability management, as well as security monitoring and analytics.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and requirements such as ISO-27001, NIST, PCI, HIPAA, SOX, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform risk-based assessments of applications, databases, and/or infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated process orientation – the ability to build repeatable and reusable processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with formal documentation creation such as policy or standard development.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

PREFERENCES INCLUDE:
  • CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CEH, Security + or equivalent certification preferred.
