Description We are searching for a meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our team in Bedford, Massachusetts. In this role, you will oversee the weekly and semi-monthly payroll processes for a substantial number of employees. The role also involves ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding and other deductions. This position offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Facilitate daily payroll operations for multiple site locations and remote workers in different states. Identify opportunities to streamline procedures while maintaining a robust set of internal controls. Collaborate with HR on any updates associated with employee compensation, benefits changes, garnishments and tax gross ups. Ensure accurate computation and recording of time, earnings, benefits, tax, garnishments and all other payroll adjustments. Monitor weekly and semi-monthly remittances of employee / employer 401k contributions to the Company's plan administrator. Ensure compliance with government-related reporting and stay updated with relevant legislation impacting payroll and other payroll tax-related matters. Provide assistance to Accounting with the reconciliation support for all payroll-related balance sheet accounts. Collaborate with IT business partner on application testing relating to software and tax system updates / upgrades and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Provide support during periodic audits including benefit plans, state and local agencies, worker's comp insurer and annual financial statements. Anticipate, diagnose and resolve issues as they arise, demonstrating the ability to identify, influence and execute process improvements.Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Experience with ADP - Financial Services Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now Familiarity with Ceridian and Dayforce software Experience with 401k - RRSP Administration Ability to use About Time software Understanding of Accounting Functions Auditing skills Knowledge of Benefit Functions Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work in a team and independently Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
