Our client values a user-centric approach at all stages of their product lifecycle from conception through discovery, design, development, and customer experience. As part of the User Experience Team the Product Owner (PO) articulates the details of requested product features needed to meet product vision and strategy effectively for key stakeholders and Scrum team members and contributes to the product vision evolution in collaboration with the Product Manager, Technical Lead and UX Design team. The Product Owner is an essential link between our business stakeholders expressed needs and the scrum teams implementing solutions to meet those needs. The Product Owner will also own Agile sprint planning, backlog management, and reviews of new functionality to verify requirements are met. This Product Owner role will focus on enterprise platforms and mobile applications for data management enterprise cloud solutions related to temperature-sensitive supply chains in perishable goods/food supply chain, Life sciences and pharmaceuticals, and consumer and industrial cargo security. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process from discovery to delivery.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Own the product backlog for Scrum Team (grooming, prioritization, refinement). Clarifies product vision against the requirements.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the product to become a subject matter expert.
  • Ensure delivery of scope, works with Scrum team to ensure clarity of epic and user story content. Resolves open issues quickly and efficiently. Accepts user stories. Acts as voice of Product Manager.
  • Lead planning and requirements gathering activities including interviews, document analysis, workshops, discussions, use case iteration, and other methods.
  • Identify and document project scope, goals, and deliverables to understand and communicate boundaries of the business requirements.
  • Consolidate and evaluate information and high-level requirements to reconcile conflicts and to distill into lower-level detailed requirements that support our iterative agile-based development process.
  • ­Create requirements documentation according to established process, using standard templates and applying best practices for the development of requirements.
  • Create project records (epics, user stories) for software development and conduct ongoing gap analysis to ensure all requirements defined for the scope of the project are included in these records.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Scrum Masters, Tech Leads, UX Designers, internal and external stakeholders to analyze business and user needs and to scope and define new features and enhancements to the system.
  • Provide support for development and test teams during testing cycles. Performs acceptance testing of Sprint deliverables and approves features for release.
  • Maintain product requirements content in the requirements repository system and compile product requirements reference documents using that content.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, Co-Op Students, and interns.

QUALIFICATIONSESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Experience and technical knowledge involving the planning and development of enterprise software applications and mobile applications in an agile development process.
  • Establish customer-driven design and usability principles.
  • Build a deep understanding of business goals to help drive results. Challenge the goals when necessary, to align with both business and user’s needs.
  • Develop, document, and promote documentation guidelines, best practices, and standards across projects in collaboration with the BA team members.
  • Collaboration is key… Must be skilled in leading requirements discussions to foster a collaborative approach to advising stakeholder, requirements collection, solution review, and ongoing feedback.
  • Perform out-of-the-box design thinking, collaborate with others, and make a difference every day!
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BS or MS or equivalent experience in computer science, analytics, informatics, health care technology, life science, food supply chain, or enterprise business applications
  • 3+ years requirements management experience required
  • Expertise with Agile Lifecycle and SCRUM practices is required
  • Keen understanding of software development processes in an Agile environment
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Etc.)
  • Experience using collaboration tools including Confluence, Jira, SharePoint or similar software
  • Experience with User Experience research is a plus
  • Self-starter and motivated to expand skill set and experience
  • Examples of written documentation will be requested as part of the interview process
