R&D Lab Summer Intern

Internship within our Research and Development department in Danvers, MA.  The main project scope for our internship is below:Summary:The main responsibility will be developing new adhesive products and/or evaluating alternative raw materials to support our strategic sourcing initiatives.       Essential Responsibilities:  Assist or lead projects for either developing new adhesives and/or qualifying raw materials for use in adhesive formulations. Research possible raw material substitutions or consolidations beginning with internet searches and comparisons on paper (TDS, SDS, C of A’s) of raw material characteristics. Reaching out to vendors and distributors for input as needed. Develop adhesive formulations using Design of Experiment (DOE) methodology and optimize the properties of the adhesives based on DOE results. Mixing small lab batches of experimental adhesive formulations and preparing samples for testing. Testing of final products key performance indicators including: viscosity, density, cure time, exotherm, compressive/tensile strength, adhesion, electrical properties, etc. Presentation of the data to the R&D team for review and decision making. Document all work in a lab notebook and prepare a PowerPoint presentation to be presented to the Senior Leadership Team at the end of the internship.
