We recycle more than 234,000 tons of plastic, paper and metals from the waste stream.WIN Waste Innovations is currently looking for a Relief Operator to monitor and control boilers, turbine, and auxiliary plant equipment from all areas of the facility to maintain safe, efficient and continuous plant operation.Essential Functions:

Maintains safe and efficient boiler operation including maintaining productive boiler combustion, maximize generation, manage in-plant power consumption, operates facility within all applicable permits.

Monitors plant operational and emissions data; detects and responds to changing conditions with regard to maximizing plant safety and efficiency.

Coordinates and directs all subordinates as required.

Oversees the operation of plant equipment for local monitoring for safe operation. Works with maintenance to troubleshoot problems and ascertains probable cause.

Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions. Records data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases, voltage load and generator balance.

Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment. Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.

Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, recorders, and gauges, and cleaning or replacing burners or other components.

May be required to oil and lubricate equipment.

Records operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operator's logbook.

Follows standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Works rotating shifts as required.

Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio or face to face.

Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

For all Massachusetts facility's, a 2nd Class Engineers license is required.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

Two years working in power plant environment; or 5 years related experience or training in power plant environment.

Mechanical skills sufficient to perform such tasks as replacement of shear pins, valve repacking, and equipment inspections.

Skills, experience, and knowledge sufficient to acquire ASME QRO Provisional license.

Math skills sufficient to complete required job functions.

Knowledge and understanding of the operation and control of a steam generating power plant.

Operate fire extinguishing equipment ranging from handheld extinguishers to 200 lb portable units

Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12" by 16" manways

PPE Required:Work in areas under adverse conditions that may require the donning and use of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, the following with average fatigue:

Negative pressure respirator

Positive pressure respirator

Self-contained breathing apparatus (steel or composite bottle)

Hardhat

Approved safety shoes

Eye protection

Rubber suit and gloves

Chemical resistant suit

Heat resistant outerwear

Flame resistant outerwear
