Job Description

The Senior Corporate Attorney - Employment will play an integral role in developing and building products and employment function at PayScale. As a key part of the legal team, this individual will be responsible for employment-related responsibilities such as drafting employment agreements internationally, resolving employee concerns, providing advice on leave and related issues, and developing policies and processes to support employees and the People team here at Payscale. In addition, as Payscale is a software company in the compensation space, this role will also be focused on staying current on compensation and pay equity legislation and trends, advising the research and development teams on building compliant and useful products to address the compensation needs of our customers, and working with the revenue and marketing teams on how best to engage with customers on these issues.

The ideal candidate will have a business-forward and problem-solving point of view, with the ability to prioritize well, present to and interact productively with senior leadership, build positive relationships, and think strategically. An interest in learning and a genuine curiosity will lead to success, and creativity is a valued attribute. We are looking for someone who can join the existing team in building a modern and innovative legal department.

This role is an opportunity to go beyond what employment attorneys typically support, and work directly with our product, revenue and marketing teams to build great products that allow customers to get pay right.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Experienced employment attorney.
  • Ability to design, gather support, and implement legal initiatives.
  • Able to communicate complicated ideas easily.
  • Professional, with cultural awareness/sensitivity and principled ethical standards.
  • Ability to prioritize competing expectations and raise issues appropriately.
  • Able to work well with all levels and departments.

Education/Experience:

  • 7+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney, J.D. required
  • Strong preference for in-house experience involving software/technology
