Job Description

What We Do: The Data Ingest Team focuses on building automated, performant, scalable, and flexible solutions to loading client data from a variety of sources. The team is central to crafting solutions around ingesting data from external systems, as well as supporting changes to existing solutions in concert with new features.

What You Do: You will be crafting, building, and improving our systems so that clients are able to import and update their data in an expedient and scalable manner.

Day-in-the-Life: As a Software Engineer II, a typical day may include the following:

  • Designing and building new systems,followingcloud nativemicroservicepatterns.

  • Partnering with Product Managers and fellow Engineers to help provide a technical path forward for upcoming initiatives with novel, innovative solutions.

  • Writing performant code that permits data ingestion at-scale.

  • Improving and supporting our existing microservices and integrations.

  • Mentoring peers on best-practices and new technologies.

First Year in Role:

By your third month, partnering with your teammates, you will have completed a couple handfuls of enhancements and feature changes. Your changes will be live in production making an impact on our consumer users and company metrics.

By your sixth month, you have completely ramped up on the team with the ability to pick up most tasks on the sprint board and complete it on your own from start to finish.

After one year at Payscale, you are fully integrated into the engineering organization and you are an authority in many of the projects, services, and processes that we own. You are mentoring your teammates, proposing designs, and offering innovative ways to deliver the best products.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record developing and supporting well architected, service based systems.

  • 2+ years experience with the following languages and frameworks: .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, Angular, Dapper, and Entity Framework.

  • 2+ years experience with the following data systems: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch (ETL experience is a major plus!)

  • Experience with cloud providers, such as Microsoft Azure.

  • Success in crafting readable and testable code, embracing unit tests and integration test concepts.

  • Working with a team of people on engaging problems which often times require independent research excites you.

  • Your problem solving and critical thinking skills are strong.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience with Azure Service Bus and Apache Kafka is a plus.

  • Kubernetes, containerization, and CI/CD knowledge is a major plus.

Tools:

  • We deliver solutions using C# (.NET Core 3.1+), Angular 12, and Microsoft SQL Server.

  • We deploy our code using TeamCity and Octopus Deploy.
