Sr. Director, US Head of Business Control OfficeBoston, United States of AmericaThe Sr. Director, US Head of Business Control Office operates within the first line of defense (FLOD) and is accountable to establish and manage consistent and quality execution of FLOD Risk Management Framework and Programs.Key Responsibilities include:

Facilitate identification, measurement and management of risk across the organization through consistent execution of the established risk frameworks, policies, and standards and underlying programs

Identify and manage solutions to enable consistent execute and outcomes of risk programs ensuring alignment with policy and standard requirements

Aggregation of risk program outcomes and risk measurement of vertical business and horizontal risk stripes including perspective on concentration and aggregate risk through ongoing risk reporting and change management risk assessment

Interface with regulators and the board to demonstrate first line management of the overall risk and control environment

Oversee the FLOD effective management and remediation of risk issues ensuring holistic mitigation across all relevant functions, products, services and channels

Understand current issues and identify thematic concerns through continuous monitoring of internal and external events, incidents, issues, audits and exams

Drive risk culture through establishing expectations, ownershipandaccountability for risk management across the organization as well as ongoing awareness and engagement with executive management and peers

Drive transparency through consistent and effective governance routines to report and escalate risk exposures to executive management, regulators and board

Facilitate Business Line awareness of and adherence to risk frameworks, policies, and standards through ongoing oversight and first line of defense challenge ensuring appropriate ownership and effective risk management

Provide input to Horizontal and Vertical Risk Stripe owners to support aggregation of risks including new and emerging risks along with remediation plans for unmitigated risks affecting changes in risk profiles

Produce FLOD risk reporting for presentation to relevant governance forums including but not limited to the ORC, ERMC, BRC.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Work Experience: 12+ years in Risk Management, Controls, or related experience.

Experience with delivering risk management execution across multiple business lines offering a wide variety of financial services products and services.

Deep knowledge of the financial services sector, particularly with the competitive dynamics and products in retail banking and risk management.

Developed understanding and demonstrated application of operational risk identification and mitigation practices and procedures.

Developed understanding of the regulatory environment and how the risks of the products and services the bank offers are viewed by the Second Line of Defense and regulators.

Ability to build credibility with, collaborate with, and influence line of business executives.

Able to effectively engage in communication with executive management, board members, regulators and other team members across the Santander US and Corporate Risk Management (DGR) organization

Ability to build, present and negotiate a position based on metrics and facts.
