The Staff Accountant/Payroll Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and Controller in maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting; ensuring acceptable levels of internal control; ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and Raffles Hotels Standard Operating Procedures; and safeguarding owners/investors assets. The emphasis of this role is on Payroll processing.   Fundamental Requirements:Process Payroll by ensuring timely & accurate payments, addressing employee inquiries and resolving discrepancies directly with them.Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.Prepare all contribution reporting and facilitate payments to vendors.Train leaders on payroll reporting.Serve as the primary payroll contact, resolving employee payroll inquiries professionally.Maintain strict compliance with corporate protocol and audit requirements.Assist in the monthly close process by posting journal entries related to payroll, prepaid, etc.Monitor, prepare, and communicate financial reports in accordance with Raffles Hotels required due dates.Keep management aware of any unusual operation or financial occurrences and/or significant deviations.Ensure overall guest satisfaction by attentive listening and then immediately resolving guest issues or elevating to the Director of Finance or General Manager.Cross-Train in other areas within the Accounting Department.Assist in other areas as Staff Accountant, namely on AP, AR, and credit.Ability to identify root causes of issues that may affect staff or guests and provide actionable and measurable solutions to improve efficiency, overall work environment, and/or guest experienceCoordinate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and employee status updates in partnership with Human Resources.Review employee timekeeping, attendance, leave balances, and payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and corporate policies.Perform regular payroll audits and reconciliations to verify the accuracy of payroll, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefit contributions.Prepare payroll accruals, vacation accruals, benefit entries, reversals, and related month-end adjustments.Identify and implement process improvements that enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
