Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to ensure the proper operation of desktop infrastructure. Performs all other related work as required. style="font-weight: 400;" style="font-weight: 400;"

  • Coordinates the setup, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of desktop infrastructure (desktops, laptops, monitors, printers and other peripheral equipment) and software components.
  • Completes incoming service requests from end-users to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Analyzes end-user needs and verifies inventory.
  • Ensures the accuracy, validity, and integrity of asset management data as it pertains to the desktop infrastructure at all points during the life cycle of the device (order, receiving, stock, deployment, move, and retirement).
  • Builds, deploys, and tests computer images for desktop and laptop computers.
  • Identifies and learns appropriate software applications used and supported by the Commission.
  • Develops and implements strategic initiatives for centralized management (including patch management) and work with IT Security and Infrastructure groups to develop “zero-administration” initiatives to centralize distribution of software to desktops.
  • Records, tracks, and documents the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken through final resolution.
  • Writes tutorials for applications for end-users.
  • Elicits problem details from end-users.
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.

Education, Training And Experience

Recommended Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; minimum of 1 year experience in the IT field. ITIL, Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), MCSA certifications preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. style="font-weight: 400;" style="font-weight: 400;"

Knowledge, Ability And Skill Knowledge Knowledge of computers, computer systems, and applications; knowledge of trends in computer technology and knowledge of MIS software used to administrate users and troubleshoot hardware and software issues. style="font-weight: 400;" style="font-weight: 400;" Ability Ability to communicate effectively and have a calm demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with end-users; ability to learn all Commission software applications; ability to prioritize assignments and manage projects. style="font-weight: 400;" style="font-weight: 400;" Skill Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, strong customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and skill in identifying and learning appropriate software applications used and supported by the Commission. style="font-weight: 400;" style="font-weight: 400;"
