The Senior Access Control/Security System Technician will be responsible for the installation, testing, and commissioning of access control and security systems, primarily in new construction environments. This position requires compliance with safety standards, management of subcontractors, and coordination with inspectors. The role involves maintaining detailed documentation, performing inspections, and ensuring the project meets client specifications and regulatory requirements. The technician must also be able to work extended hours and shifts and meet specific cross-border employment qualifications.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

System Installation and Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission access control and security systems on the Gordie Howe International Bridge (GHIB) construction site.

Safety Compliance: Maintain a Safety-First mentality by observing, regulating, and promoting a safe working environment in compliance with all safety protocols and regulations.

Submittal Verification: Review and verify technical drawings before submittal to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

Subcontractor Management: Direct and oversee subcontractors on site to ensure quality installation and adherence to project deadlines.

Inspection and Testing: Schedule, perform, and document inspections and tests in collaboration with authorized inspectors. Ensure functional performance of installed systems.

Record Maintenance: Maintain detailed records of wiring verification, point-to-point (P2P) verifications, and functional tests, ensuring accurate and timely documentation for project compliance.

Documentation for Commissioning: Create and submit technical documents for review by the commissioning agent, ensuring that all system components meet project specifications.

Mentorship: Mentor junior technicians, providing training and guidance to ensure the development of their technical skills and adherence to industry standards.

Representation: Represent the Project Manager in field operations, liaising between the project management team, clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders.

Proven experience (5+ years) in the installation and commissioning of access control and security systems in new construction environments.

Strong understanding of electrical, low-voltage systems, and safety standards.

Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

Cross-border Work: Able to apply for a Canadian visa and work in Canada on a work visa when required.

Extended Shifts: Ability to work shifts exceeding 10 hours and 7-day weeks when necessary, ensuring project deadlines are met.

Must pass an intensive background check due to the nature of the project.

Hold a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive to job sites.

Hold or be able to obtain required industry licenses (e.g., fire alarm license, access control certifications).

Familiarity with Canadian work regulations and ability to apply for a work visa when required.
